NLEC's Women's Training Program: Is a developed program that provides assisted housing, meals, clothing, hygiene items, education, on-the-job training and counseling to disadvantaged women and children in various cities and communities in the Mid-west. NLEC provides a combination of relief, education and sustainable development. Our cities and communities have a tremendous need for additional assisted housing for women and children who are victims of poverty, low-income, domestic violence and/or other emergency situations. Please read the stories and testimonies of women who have been apart of the NLEC training program.

| "How I became homeless... it started in 2002 when my
boyfriend got arrested and I had to raise three boys on my own. I
didn't have any income so I had to go on welfare and the rent was to high
so I got evicted because of low-income. I applied for low-income
houseing and section eight, but couldn't get on them. I tried to
stay with relatives but that didn't work out either. So I've been
homeless ever since. This year in 2005 I came to Larry Rice
Ministries (NLEC) hopeing to find shelter and a place for my child.
I am very thankful for the NLEC shelter for women and children because
without it I would be on the streets. I've decided to go back to
school in the fall and take up pharmacy tech so that I can have a license
or certificate."

| "I am 37 years old, I
have three children, three daughters ages 14, 10 and 2. I became
homeless on April 15, 2005. I came to New Life Evangelistic Center
on August 8, 2005, with my three children. The reason why I am
homeless is because I was living with some friends and they moved out of
their apartment, without telling me. I had no way to pay the rent.
Since I've been here at New Life I have turned my life over to God.
He has really been good to me and my children and we love being here at
New Life and I enjoy being in the Job Training Program For Women."

| "I was in an abusive relationship, when I finally got
tired of the abuse my sister offered me to come to St. Louis for a fresh
start for me and my children. I found a job, car and living
foundation until I got my own place. But then one day I came home
and found out my sister had moved out and didn't tell the landlord I was
there. I then lost my job because we slept in my car for a week.
I went back to visit some friends while I waited for an apartment in St.
Louis, and my cared was towed with everything I owned. I was
stranded at the Amtrak train Station, no house, no car, no belongings.
This is how I became homeless." -Anonymous |

“I never thought it would come to this…my three children and me sleeping in a car night after night in the heat of summer with no place to wash up. I know through experience we could become bitter or better. We chose to become better as we put our trust in God. Daily, He would provide us a place to wash up and eat but I knew He had more. As we cried out to the Lord he heard our cry and brought us to New Life Evangelistic Center. That was last May. Since then I have joined the NLEC training program and God has revolutionized my life and that of my children.” -Chantay Blanks |
