Thank you so very much for your support to the New Life Evangelistic Center at this time of great need.  Because of your generosity we have seen the love of God working in a mighty way in the lives of the hurting and homeless not only in Mid America but in India, Africa and Haiti.

Both by day and by night at 1411 Locust in St. Louis, we witness how God is a “father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His Holy dwelling.  God sets the lonely in families” (Psalms 68:5, 6).

Many throughout Mid-America have referred to the 1411 Locust facility as a shelter.  Yes it is that to over 150 homeless people each night but it is so much more.  NLEC has become to fifty previous lonely homeless people a family.  This family is actually a Christian Community where mutual prayer and support helps each one to grow in their faith and the gifts God has given them.

Now Mayor Francis Slay and Alderwoman Lyda Krewson have declared that they want to destroy this family by April 1.  Their plans involve putting a lock on the 1411 Locust building and putting everyone living there back out on the streets.  Our attorneys are presently appealing this action in state circuit court as they get an injunction to stop it.

In the meantime because of caring people like you, we have been able to meet all the city’s plumbing and other requirements for the 1411 Locust facility.  Now $54,000 must be raised to fix a beam under the front porch plus pay overdue legal bills.  This is critical in order that we may continue to fight to keep the 1411 Locust building open around the clock to the hurting and homeless.

Now I am asking for your earnest prayers as we approach this April 1 deadline.  Your gifts and prayers have made it possible for New Life to continue to serve thousands during the past few years as gentrification has swept throughout the downtown area.

Because of your faithful support, souls have been saved and lives changed as the lost and lonely have discovered they have a family that loves them.  These previously lonely homeless individuals, have discovered at New Life Evangelistic Center a new purpose for their lives.

I now realize that this willful act to destroy the family of believers residing at 1411 Locust is only a further illustration of the culture of death that has become so common in St. Louis.  As you pray for NLEC please also pray that the City of St. Louis will experience the new life that God desires to give to all of His people.

We have come so far we must not give up now.  Please continue to pray and then share your most generous gift with New Life Evangelistic Center.  If you do this we will be able to continue to be there when people are hurting or homeless both day and night.

Thank you once again for your faithful support.

P.S.   During these next few weeks I will personally be doing everything I can to see that a lock is not put on the doors of 1411 Locust.  I am also believing God that in the near future a revolution of compassion will come forth in St. Louis.  Now NLEC needs your support and prayers more than ever before.  Thank you again for caring and sharing.
