STOP GENTRIFICATION!

In Europe in the late Eighteen Hundreds, they called it the “White Man’s Burden” as colonialists moved into Africa and many other areas around the world.  In America, as the land was stolen from the Indians it was referred to as Manifest Destiny.

Today pushing the poor, elderly and homeless out of the neighborhood is called economic development when in reality it is gentrification, the robbing of the poor and the giving to the gentry (or the rich).

The end result is clearly seen on Locust Street between 13th and 15th Street.  In Lucas Park where homeless people once gathered with their children, millennials with money now run their dogs.  The homeless have not only been driven out of the park but off Locust Street.  The time to fight gentrification is now!
