Dear Treasured Partner and Friend:

As we approach Lent this year I am grateful that New Life is still open to help people in crisis situations find refuge, hope and strength.

In these frightening, uncertain times, that above all else, is the reason to celebrate New Life Evangelistic Center’s 40 years of service.

New Life is one of the last remaining places open 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year, where people can get immediate emergency services.

Women like Mona, assaulted on the streets of St. Louis, and men like Steve, a senior who walks with a cane, came to 1411 Locust in their time of need. They were vulnerable and alone. Others like Veronica, Daniel, Pedro and Pam, had nowhere else to go. Thank God New Life is still here for them!

They and hundreds of other jobless, hungry and broken people pour into our doors daily for food, clothing, shelter and other direct help that they cannot find anywhere else.

They are why the work done at 1411 Locust is so critical.

But the needs at this facility are catching up with us. I have never had so many pressing needs all at one time.

It would be easy to get discouraged but I know in the depths of my soul that God will provide the miracle that is so critically needed.

As I reflect during this season of Lent on the great price Jesus paid for each of us by dying on the cross, I am reminded that I must not give up.

Women with children in strollers, homeless veterans, and many other suffering people are counting on New Life. I cannot allow myself to lose heart.

I am also encouraged to know that I am not alone in this fight. Christ is with me and He has blessed me with you, my treasured ministry partner and friend.

It is a great comfort to know you are there, and that I can write to you to say, “I need help now!”

There is a kitchen inspection this month. The floor is buckling from water damage and tuck pointing is needed on the exterior of the building to stop the water leaks. If the kitchen doesn’t pass inspection how will we feed the women and children?

One of the furnaces on the 5th floor where over 150 men sleep every night has stopped working and needs to be repaired or replaced.

Plumbing for toilets serving over 125 men each night is badly needed.

Please pray about stepping out in faith to become a Millennium Club Partner who shares $1,000 or more to help meet these pressing needs. and to keep New Life open.

Millennium Club Partners will be honored by having their names displayed at 1411 Locust Street in the Hall of Heroes to serve as a testimony of faith for generations to come.

If you cannot join the Millennium Club, can I count on you for a special ministry support gift of $200, $400, $600 or whatever your best gift is now? Please share the urgency of the needs at New Life with your family, friends and church groups, and pray daily for this vital outreach.

Without your help, the critical work being done at New Life cannot continue. I pray that you will not lose heart and I thank you for standing with me in continuous prayer and faithful support.

Your Partner in Service,

Larry Rice

P.S.: Please pray that this critical work can continue and give your best possible gift as soon as possible. Thank you so much my friend!
