When the city of St. Louis forced the closing of 1411 Locust Street, it drove over 150 of the homeless we were serving back to the streets.

In spite of this grave injustice the team at New Life Evangelistic Center did not give up. Not only has the work continued to move forward at the other NLEC locations but because of your faithful support positive steps continue to take place to get us back into the 1411 Locust.

New Life Evangelistic Center continues to correct the issues that the City of St. Louis has mandated in order to re-open 1411 Locust Street.

The following required repairs have been made or are in progress:

  1. The condensate overflow protection for the drop ceilings has been completed.
  2. The exhaust ventilation for the basement restrooms and showers is now taking place.
  3. The engineer’s report regarding the safety of the structural columns has been submitted and approved for the work to proceed.
  4. Presently bids are being received concerning the engineers report for the exterior fire escape and the sprinklers in the worship area.
  5. The fire rating in the egress stairs between the use groups are being provided to the building division along with working with heating and air conditioner professionals to establish a permanent heating and cooling system that maintains a constant temperature of 72° on the first and second floors.

Right now, you have an opportunity to help New Life get the remaining necessary renovations done, so that we can re-open with a new and improved facility that will provide the best in help for those who so desperately need it.

When day time services resume at the 1411 Locust building the following will take place:

Women & Children’s Day Center – A new and improved Women & Children’s Day Center will open to provide a place for women and their children to be during the heat of the day in the summer and the freezing cold in the winter.

Free Stores – The Free Store for men, women & children (two stores housed separately but in the same building) will be re-opened where those who are in need can shop for free.

Counseling & Case Management – Increased services will take place including counseling and case management. These services will help those who are homeless to move out of homelessness through cooperative services with other agencies in our area. The services provided will include long term transitional housing, additional job training programs, health care and rehabilitation services for those who need it.

Worship & Spiritual Growth – Once again, Worship Services and Bible Studies will be able to take place.

Please continue to pray that this miracle will take place in the near future. As you pray please consider partnering with New Life Evangelistic Center by sharing your gift of $75, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or more at this time.

Please stand with us once again in this critical need and send your gift today.

Once again I want to thank you for all that you are doing. May God truly bless you and your family in a very special way.

Yours in Christ,

Larry Rice

P.S. As we work for the restoration miracle of the 1411 Locust building I continue to thank God for all He is doing through caring people like you. I am counting on hearing from you this month so that the critical work can be accomplished to re-open 1411 Locust. May God truly bless you and your loved ones in a very special way.
