Actual Innocence

Recently, a fellow prisoner that I know named Valdez and I were conversing in the gym here at the Graham Corruptional Center. He is another defendant out of Madison County, Illinois’ Injustice System. We were discussing “Actual Innocence,” and the telling signs of someone that is truly innocent. The State recently offered to sentence him to time served in response to his post-conviction petition. He turned it down. He has about 5 years left on his sentence. Of course, he raised that. Turning down a deal of that magnitude. I turned one down in 2008 that would have set me free 15 years ago. I don’t rely on that to show my innocence. I brought  up “sleep.” In the past 24+ years, I have not slept for more than 3 straight hours! No one that is innocent can get a good nights sleep! That is a telling sign. I told this brother that I have been deprived so much sleep that I hallucinate often. I see people standing next to me when there is no one there. He agreed with me. We both laughed and then went back to working out. True story.

In solidarity,
