On February 9, 1979, I was walking to my girlfriend’s house, cutting through a gated community.

After the loss of my family, including my twin brother, I became homeless. I was sleeping under a bridge when Rev. Ray found me. I was dirty, hungry, alone, and afraid. It was through the NLEC training program in New Bloomfield that I finally found security. I discovered security through the program and Jesus Christ. I now work in Springfield, Missouri helping with the mail and other front desk duties.

Volunteering is a natural part of loving our Jesus in word and deed. And the New Life VCHC is the perfect place to love those who are forgotten. We say to each of them–your life has value. It has meaning thru Jesus!

Having recently become homeless due to domestic problems, I knew this life was not for me. But I had another problem besides homelessness– I like alcohol too much! Some days when I was so stoned, I could barely walk or talk. But the staff at the New Life VCHC never gave up on me!

Although I did not go into combat, I am an army veteran. I love helping people. I think this is the calling on my life. I was trying to take care of my mom. She was homeless. She lived in a tent at Tent City here in Springfield. When I came to visit, I was shocked to find her dead in her tent!

This morning while I was on a prayer walk, I came across a man who was taking his cat for a walk.

The first words you spoke to me, “you are saying some radical things", as you grinned really big.

Whether it is bloodshed in the streets or families being ripped apart along with democracy, we need victory over the powers of darkness.

There is Hope, Christ is Risen!

Death is a reality that every person must face. It plagues all of mankind, no matter how rich or poor, smart or dumb you are.

There's a message Jesus wants to tell you! He's faithful! And will NEVER fail you! He's here to help you! And will be there to the end..

Every spring the message of the resurrection bursts forth from the cold death grip of winter Because of the good news of the resurrection,

Jonnie was a fellow inmate who seemed to struggle with life's challenges. Johnnie was 40- years-old and had serious doubts about God.

We must begin to hear the cries of the incarcerated and start to feel the intensity of their pain. Such an adjustment is not easy.

God May speak by giving us peace deep inside of us. He may give a creative idea. I spent 14 and a half years behind bars.

God loves us with such incredible love as He has demonstrated through the sending of His Son for our redemption.

Psalms 15:1-5 says, “Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?

Easter for most incarcerated here can be such a debilitating experience.

I was sentenced to death and sent to death now at the prison at Potosi. The Supreme Court sent me a letter.
